If you missed this gig then I’m sorry, it was an absolute belter. Night and Day café was sold out for THE BLINDERS new EP launch (ELECTRIC KOOL-AID PART 1,which will now be released on 21/01/22) and the crowd played a huge role in making this gig Special.
The devoted fans were giving it maximum energy on the floor, beer flying everywhere, bodies flying everywhere, no one left this gig feeling short-changed. As for THE BLINDERS themselves, they were at their absolute best, playing plenty of tracks from previous albums COLUMBIA and FANTASIES OF A STAY AT HOME PSYCHOPATH as well as debuting 3 new EP tracks which are a real treat to look forward to on Friday.
The set started with CITY WE CALL LOVE and the fans were instantly in full throttle, although they somehow found an extra level with the tracks FORTY DAYS AND FORTY NIGHTS, L’ETAT C’EST MOI and ET TU. If you’re not familiar with this band (originally from Doncaster but now based in Manchester) then putting them in an indie/ rock box does not tell the full story of their unique music, their songs also contain elements of punk, blues and physcadelic rock, a seriously tasty combo which makes them a truly exciting band to see live with some tracks beginning slow and building up til the atmosphere is supercharged to the max.
After the gig the band did a DJ set at the venue, promising a bit of ABBA on the bill, unfortunately I had a train to catch so didn’t get to witness the event. The gig itself was exciting and immense and I can’t wait to hear to the new stuff again.
