Tramlines 2025

Sheffield was my second home until I realised it’s been 12 months since I’ve been there, shame on me cos I love Sheffield. My return was of course for my yearly trip to Tramlines. A very interesting line up this year, a lot of acts I’ve never seen so was looking forward to this.

The weekend was marred by very poor train services, the worst being to and from Leeds but Manchester at times was pretty bad.

The first act I got to see on day 1 was Lisa O’Neill, I’d not planned to go and see her, she was preparing to go on stage as I arrived and I  decided to check her out. I dont know what genre she is but I was reminded of Art Garfunkel, am I wrong? She has an amazing voice and spent longer watching and photographing her than I anticipated but was well worth it.

I intend to check her out more on Spotify and will look out for her touring. I really enjoyed.

Next up was Spiritualized on the Main Stage, the last choice I think I’d use to support a main act. Although their music is great but a certain time, certain place great. On the Leadmill Stage were The Fat White Family. I’d never seen this band before and the singer … reminded me of a pre lockdown ‘Cage The Elephant’. They were obviously a very popular band with the reaction of the crowd. As I’ve never listened to them before I’ll add that they caught my attention with there heavy sound and stage presence. I’ll check them out soon.

Possibly the most anticipated Headliner of the weekend were next on the Main Stage…….Pulp.

It was such a great trip through my Golden Years of the Nineties.

Saturday for me started with The K’s, not my thing but they were lapped up by the crowd. They got one of the loudest roars of the weekend when they took to the stage. They sounded excellent but more for the younger generation I think.

Next was Natasha Bedingfield, she is incredible. Her voice is so powerful that I wish she was in a Rock Band like Halestorm. I’m going to keep an eye out for her touring so I can check her out again.

As well as checking out Franz Ferdinand, Jake Bugg and Daydreamers. My performance of the day was from Heather Small. Another trip back in time.

Search for a Hero, Moving on Up, One Night in Heaven and How can I love you more……….so many hits with M People.

Absolute 90s legend.

By Sunday my transport situation had become an issue and dictating what I could see. Sadly I only got to see Cmat, The Last Dinner Party and finally Kasabian.

Cmat were a breath of fresh air, I dont know what Genre they are but to me they are Pop music. They easily hit first place for the loudest cheers as they hit the stage. I had never seen them before and No more Virgos is on my playlist so will check out more of there work as time allows.

There has been a lot of noise about The Last Dinner Party of late and rightly so. I love to have a bit of theatre in my music and they certainly give that. Abigail Morris has the voice of an Angel. They arent really going to connect with most people my age but they are just gonna get bigger and bigger. I’m sounding like an old duffer now.

Finally after the penalty shoot out came Kasabian. They never disappoint with Serge bounding constantly round the stage with tunes like Clubfoot and I’m on Fire.

Yet another epic weekend from Tramlines, in my opinion it’s the best Festival in the UK at the moment.
