Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival announces Spring Gathering.
Celebrating all things alternative and gothic Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival has announced a Spring Gathering to supplement it’s traditional celebration of all things gothic and alternative in Whitby over the Halloween weekend from October 28th-30th.
Their Spring Gathering – the first for four years – will also take place in Whitby, this time over the weekend of 28th-29th April 2023.
Headlining Friday night will be LA’s Cold Cave who bring their modern day darkwave, synth-pop to the shores of North Yorkshire. Friday night will also feature The Rose Of Avalanche. A favourite of BBC’s John Peel and Janice Long at the peak of the 80’s alt/goth/rock music scene they disbanded following a series of legal disputes with their record label only to make a surprise return with their original line-up in 2019. Siberia – post punk from Ireland and the UK – complete the Friday night line-up announced so far although ‘special guests’ are still to be announced.
Saturday night headliners are the hugely popular ‘Political Rock’, ‘Folk Rock’, ‘Goth’, ‘Punk’, ‘Post Punk’ New Model Army, who throughout their 40+ year career have steadfastly managed to avoid being pigeonholed into any sort of musical genre. One thing that can be guaranteed though is the energy and atmosphere witnessed at any gig by New Model Army. Joining NMA are Lebanon Hanover, masters of cold, sharp, dark sounds overlying deep electronic bass riffs and the occasional fuzzy guitar. Fans of bands like Boy Harsher will love them. One of Saturday’s highlights is sure to be Ist Ist who continue their more than deserved steady rise in popularity with their modern day post-punk heavily influenced by the sounds of, amongst others, Joy Division, early Ultravox and Editors. Few bands are as proud of their ‘Goth’ label as The Nosferatu who, with their “dark, vampiric, gothic rock” open Saturday at Tomorrow’s Ghosts spring gathering.
Tickets, available for either day or the whole weekend, for The Spring Gathering can be bought here.
