THE VACCINES 02 VICTORIA WAREHOUSE MANCHESTER 14/04/2022

Thursday night at Victoria warehouse, Manchester was host to an energetic, anthem filled gig with headliners THE VACCINES and support from BLACK HONEY and AZIYA.

AZIYA is a 21 year old London singer/songwriter/producer and multi instrumentalist. She oozed a rock attitude on stage and along with her energetic band they really captured the crowds attention and got the gig off to a great start.

Brightons BLACK HONEY were up next, one of my favourite bands, and plenty an anthem was played including ALL MY PRIDE, RUN FOR COVER, SPINNING WHEEL, CORRINE, BACK OF THE BAR and I’M A BELIEVER. Singer IZZY has a unique retro boho style with a voice that ranges from innocently sweet to psycho banshee and is just an extraordinary performer, a must see live band.

This was the first time I had seen THE VACCINES live and their set maintained a whirlwind of high energy from start to finish, packed with all songs and very little chit chat, apart from a brief introduction of band members. Singer Justin did well to be heard over the fans as they sang along to pretty much every song, they were especially enthusiastic for I CANT QUIT, SURFING IN THE SKY, WETSUIT, POST BREAK UP SEX, HEADPHONES BABY and ALL MY FRIENDS ARE FALLING IN LOVE. PLANET OF THE YOUTH, the title track from their new EP, also had its first live debut. The encore tracks were XTC, WRECKIN’ BAR and ALL IN WHITE which wound the night down perfectly, a great show throughout, it wore me out!!!
