Shed Seven at the Manchester Academy

Shed Seven may have been going for over 30 years but their fans are still as loyal as ever, if they were your favourite band in the 90s then they probably still are.

After several dates of this tour being postponed due to covid, singer Rick Witter greeted the crowd with ‘Merry Christmas, I hope you all got what you wanted and thanks for your patience’. I’m pretty sure the fans loyalty to this band is helped along by the fact they genuinely seem to care about them.

During the show Rick did a whole load of birthday shout outs and handed out some of his trademark maracas, and also had a little chat with 11 year old Lauren at the front, who said she knew all of their songs. ‘I’d test you on the 90s ones if I could remember them’ he joked.

Musically the band were in fine form and Rick’s vocals transported me back to the 90s especially with their more popular hits, GETTING BETTER and GOING FOR GOLD which merged into a cover of SUSPICIOUS MINDS. They left the crowd pleasers for the encore though, DISCO DOWN and CHASING Rainbows, and everyone went home with 100% satisfaction.
