PANIC! AT THE DISCO at Manchester AO Arena 10/03/23

After 18 years PANIC! AT THE DISCO performed their last show of their VIVA LAS VENGEANCE tour in Manchester and it was also their final show ever as Brendon is concentrating on his family, well done if you managed to get a ticket.

I myself am not overly familiar with most of their work apart from a few of their bigger hits, I’ve always found their style to be too frantic so I prefer the more ballad type tracks, DON’T LET THE LIGHT GO OUT is a great song. I thought I’d give the live experience a go but I’m afraid to say it still wasn’t to my taste, don’t get me wrong BRENDON URIE has a top notch voice but it didn’t make me want to listen to their songs in the future, I think he should do a big band album if he ever returns musically. The orchestra were excellent but only seemed relevant for a couple of songs and I found it all a bit strange when the violinists played between tracks, the entire new album was sandwiched between all the hits.

The light show on the back screen however was mesmerising, including the funny short slow mo film of the band doing crazy things along to classical music. The crowd were swaying their multi coloured phone lights to one of the songs which was a welcome sight from seeing endless phone screens filming the show, if you want a more in depth review of the night you should probably try to find the person in front of me who filmed the entire set, when did people forget how to really enjoy a gig???

Anyway I’m pretty sure the fans had a good time in their own way, plenty of flowers were thrown onto the stage and Manchester was buzzing as they dispersed into the city centre.
