Long Division Festival returns to Wakefield

June 10th, 11th, 12th sees Long Division Festival return to Wakefield. Postponed in 2020 because of the pandemic 2021 saw it re-scheduled to September and now, just 9 months later it’s back in it’s usual month of June.

Always a highlight of Wakefield’s social calendar, in fact a highlight of the calendar regardless of where you live, Long Division is an award-winning festival spread over 3 days. Friday sees the festival open with an evening in the company of Poet Laureate Simon Armitage whilst Sunday sees the festival end with a day of free live music from a host of West Yorkshires finest talents.

But for music lovers it’s the main event on Saturday that really does make Long Division such a special time in the festival calendar. Having previously played host to bands such as The Cribs, Billy Bragg, Gang Of Four, The Lovely Eggs, British Sea Power, Long Division not only provides the opportunity to see some of the best bands currently on the independent scene it’s also very likely to be the place you find your new favourite band. 2021 saw artists such as The Lounge Society, Big Joanie, Hands Off Gretel and Low Hummer all play afternoon sets.

Spread over a number of city centre venues, all within a very easy walk of each other, fans of indie, punk, post punk, alternative rock will never have a dull moment whilst fans of almost every other musical genre will also find bands/artists they love. It’s not just for the indie crowd. Saturday at Long Division will satisfy anyone who simply loves music.
