I’ll be honest, when I saw this years line up for Irlam Live I was sure I’d give it a miss this year. But in the back of my mind was the fact that Irlam Live is about more than the artists that perform. Dont get me wrong, there were some really good acts on. I’ve seen Boyzlife and Bus Stop before so I was still really looking forward to this.
So I decided I would go on the Saturday because even though I love a good tribute band, Friday was impossible due to work. Sunday was not really my bag so Saturday it was.
As usual it was so easy to get there due to the Eccles Tram link, straight from my hometown of Ashton under Lyne ( don’t judge me ).
I got there just before Blazing Squad took to the stage. I never followed them when I was younger but found them entertaining all the same, the ladies in the crowd were very happy to see them.
In the Press Area, Blazing Squad were more than happy to mingle and have selfies with people which was nice.
Next up was Rowetta of the Happy Mondays. I was curious to what she would sing but rattled through a few oldies. She has a great voice and she did every song justice.
Next was one of my big memories of Irlam Live……….Bus Stop! This group of people are possibly some of the best entertainment I’ve ever seen. Stuck in the Seventies they are just concentrated fun.
From the dance competition on stage to the crowd doing the conga. Was bigger than last time too.
The we were treated to possibly the most adorable little kid ever when Rocco – Mini Mercury did his rendition of Bohemian Rapsody.
911 were then brought on, my sisters favourite boyband back in the day so I had to stick around and watch them for a while before I went to check out Phats and Small.
I’ve never really checked out the other tent when I’ve been at Irlam, so thought I’d have a stroll and check it out. The tent was absolutely bouncing while he shook the tent with dance classics.
The people at the front were all up for it and the Photographers were lapping it up.
Ben was brilliant from start to finish. With my camera slowly dying with Boyzlife still to shoot I decided a break was in order with a Spiced Rum as company.
I only managed a couple of songs by Boyzlife before I had to head home. Another incredible day provided by Irlam Live. Thanks for all the fun and see you again next year.
