Creeping Jean at Gullivers, Manchester on Sept 30th 2021
With support from Rhys E, The Rapports and Peacock Method
Review by Joanne Marsland
Gullivers was rammed for this one and RHYS E got the party started in style.

A great lyricist with an energetic band behind him, Rhys is a born entertainer, looking like the coolest dude in Manchester wearing his sunglasses and wielding a large wine glass on stage. The guys in the band really revved the crowd up with their energy while Rhys gave us some quality tunes including WISE MAN, LOVE IS A PLEASURE and the latest single WEEK AFTER WEEK which is totally catchy.
The next band, THE RAPPORTS, are an indie band from Brighton with a retro look and sound but with a modern vibe.

I can’t quite fit them into any category which makes them interesting, funky basslines, dreamy lyrics, brit pop meets indie rock, love the tracks DREAMER and PROBLEMS. Would definitely go see them again.
PEACOCK METHOD were up next and having only heard one song before I wasn’t sure what to expect, although the look of the band was promising. This newly formed local band were on the funky side of indie disco and I DON’T MIND is a perfect representation of what we can expect in the future from them.

Now for the headliners, CREEPING JEAN. This Brighton based band are obviously influenced by 60’s/70’s fashion and music but the songs are totally unique and quirky.

This year they released DESERT SAUCE, an upbeat playful track, and WARM AND FUZZY which has a white stripes vibe to it. ANGEL BREATH was in amongst the setlist, brilliant track, and they finished the night with BANDIT which is the song that introduced me to them and still my favourite. Great band and a totally friendly bunch of guys too, will definitely see again when they get up north again. New single I WANNA TAKE AWAY YOUR POWER is out now and it’s a banger, get it listened to!!! Had a total blast at Gullivers, 4 fantastic bands in a great venue.
Cheers to you all.
