Some Bands when they announce a tour, you know what you are going to get, with OMD it’s always a great night out in Manchester. This year OMD were gonna play 2 nights at the Apollo which does not surprise me because last time the venue was packed out.
I’m not sure if the show on March 1st was a sellout but I’d say so with the amount of punters.
Opening up for OMD were Walt Disco which was a bit of a shock as I’d glanced at the Tour Poster and seen Howard Jones…… London only apparently so was a bit disappointed. But Walt Disco were new to me and I have to say they were quite pleasant to the ears, plenty of catchy, funky tunes. I’ll keep my eye out for them again.
Noe was OMD, after an instrumental intro Andy McCluskey walked out to a massive roar. Surprisingly it only took a few minutes before they played my favourite ever OMD song ‘Messages’, loving it.
Tesla Girls, If You Leave and ( Forever ) Live and Die were the next songs I was really familiar with, (Forever) Live and Die bringing back lots of great memories from my childhood.
Through the night I was treated to Locomotion, Enola Gay, Joan of Arc, Dreaming and to finish on they played Electricity. Such and amazing band and I get to see them live frequently.
Had an amazing night, enjoy the photos….
