Brilliant start to Festival Season

This was my first time at the Neighbourhood Weekender, which is in its second year. When I saw the line up for this I foamed at the mouth and had to take Weshootmusic, what a start to the Festival Season. On the poster was George Ezra, Richard Ashcroft, The Charlatans and many, many more.

On the Saturday George Ezra was the Headliner, but there was a lot of bands on the second stage that needed attention. The first band to catch my ear was The Blinders, at first it looked like Papa Emeritus III from Ghost, the singer in his warpaint were a bit of theatre on stage, nice sound and will be definitely looking for again.

Also memorable performances in the tent from The Hunna and Pale Waves. These two have big futures and will certainly be higher on the lists in the coming years. Pale Waves only played 5 songs due to just stepping off the plane from the USA.

On the Main Stage, the stand out acts were Nothing But Thieves and George Ezra. I’ve seen Nothing But Thieves countless times and they are just getting better.

As for George Ezra, this was a big surprise. After hearing ‘shotgun’ every 30 mins on the radio, I thought he was gonna send me to sleep. Far from it, this guy has talent and a great stage presence, although I hardly knew and of his tunes, he was class and will go see him again if I get the chance. Just goes to show how Radio Stations overplaying a song can kill it.

On the Sunday, even though it was a great line up, I was there for the legend who is Richard Ashcroft. I love his voice and songs.

But had a little shock on Stage 2 when I watched Kate Nash. How good is this woman? She is off her head but what a performance. I’ve never seen her before and glad I did, even her band were as mad as Badgers, these are my kind of people.

The Charlatans were great, Slow Readers Club too but nothing could top Richard Ashcroft, he is a legend. Still got a great voice, still writes quality tunes.

As far as the Festival as a whole, this was a well organized and friendly weekend. Great location, brilliant VIP section with Hammocks. It also offers a good mix of Past, Present and Future in Music.

I even met Stuart Pearce in VIP!!!!!

Thank you for having us, we look forward to next years line up.
