Gigantic all dayer volume 5.
Manchester Academy will be hosting the 5th volume of this popular event on Saturday May 25th 2019. Headlining the event again are Echo and the bunnymen and having seen frontman Ian Mculloch duetting with A-ha’s Morten Harket last year I can easily say that after over 40 years of performing his voice is impeccable.
Also The Wonderstuff return to perform their entire 2nd album, HUP which was released 30 years ago as well as the obvious hits too of course. Mark Morriss will also be making a slight return to this retro indie extravaganza along with the rest of The Bluetones, and if you haven’t seen them before you will be pleasantly reminded how many great songs they have made and their new stuff sounds fresh too. Jesus Jones will be treating us to those memorable tracks of the 90’s and Jim Bob of Carter USM will be performing new solo material as well as the old favourites…. Who doesn’t love Sheriff Fatman??? Crazyhead, who returned back on the scene in 2017 after a 17 year break, will be treating us to their indie, blues, punk rock sound and Juliana Hatfield from Boston, U.S and also many previous bands will be performing with her new outfit The Juliana Hatfield Three. With a line up like that there really is something for every old school indie fan.
The festival welcomes all ages and for around £40 it’s great value for money. There will be street food outside and a real ale and cider tent to keep the energy up. So get your May bank holiday weekend off to a good start and grab yourself some tickets while they’re available.
